Tea for Three: Inside Our Prayer Party + Gender Reveal

As soon as we found out we were pregnant, my husband and I both agreed that we wanted to do a non-traditional gender reveal. After a tough few months for our family, and us trying to get pregnant for some time, we were less concerned with doing a big announcement and more interested in just being surrounded by love and light from our friends and family.

So to make the announcement, we decided to have a prayer party, where we invited closest friends and family to come over and enjoy afternoon tea with us. It was a fun nod to both mine and my husband's Caribbean culture, which is heavily influenced by British traditions (my mother is from the former British-owned Grenada and my husband's mother is Jamaican).

I've been collecting tea pots and china since I received my first tea pot from my mother-in-law a few years ago. I am always looking in vintage shops and thrift stores and had lots of fun putting this together. The menu included fun bits like cucumber sandwiches, scones and pound cake, as well as a variety of tea flavors and fresh flowers on all the tables.

I had all my friends wear fascinators and purchased a beautiful one for myself from Etsy, which my puppy managed to hide and chew into a million pieces in her bed. C'est la vie, I suppose.

My dress was from Eva Mendes' collection for New York and Company.
