It's no secret that I am a connoisseur of high-waisted denim. Even before they became the staple of many an ample-hipped woman, I was always obsessed with finding the perfect pair.

The challenges I've found in the past is that it's tricky to fit most women's hip-to-waist ratio unless it's a super stretchy material. And while I definitely love me a stretch "jegging" feel, too often that means the pants will inevitably stretch out.

I recently had the opportunity to work with Alloy Apparel, which is a brand I've worked with and loved for years now. They just launched their all-new collection of plus size denim and so I was excited to try them out.



I ordered two pairs of denim - one in black and one in a dark wash, and I wasn't disappointed. The black pair was lightweight and comfortable, feeling very similar in cut to so many of the beloved plus junior brands like Fashion Nova and other small boutiques. But when I tried on the dark denim pair, I was really pleasantly surprised to find that the fit was perfect for my body! They were stretchy and comfortable but thick enough to give you an extra bit of tummy control. In fact, I didn't wear spanx with these, which I often do with high-waist pairs. It was great to feel relaxed and comfortable enough to rock them with a crop top. (Pro-tip though: make sure you are wearing some great-fitting underwear - no VPL needed!)

The good thing about Alloy which really sets them apart is their support of taller women. I myself am not that blessed in the height department, but because I am hippy, I often order a tall inseam to get that perfect length. And at their price point, I am definitely impressed with the denim and would totally buy additional pairs. (PS -- this week they are on sale! Go cop them!)

By now you may have heard that the fabulous fast fashion brand Charlotte Russe has finally come out with a plus size line. I've been shopping at Charlotte Russe for years, so when they reached out to me, I was thrilled to get the opportunity to choose a piece from the collection.

Everyone may love to splurge now and then but even the most dedicated shoppers that I know love the thrill of a bargain. And I'm no different. There's nothing like finding the perfect dress and then realizing it's also within your budget.

I know how hard it can be to find clothing that's affordable and fun, but also looks expensive. I feel like I'm always on the hunt and sometimes it feels like I've exhausted my options. So the best feeling is finding a new place to shop that fills all of these qualities.

And I can definitely say that about Alloy Apparel.
