I am back again today to share my second look from my collaboration with Lane Bryant and what also may be my favorite look I've worn in a long time. You guys know I am obsessed with both vintage (I know you're tired of me saying it lol) and menswear. So I was excited to combine the look into one dope suit.
In yesterday's post, I shared how LB's blazers have been so on point lately -- this white one I am wearing here is no exception. From the cut to the length to the button placement, it is such a great fit and definitely one of those pieces that looks far more expensive than it actually is.
Since I've always wanted to wear a white tuxedo but it's like searching for a unicorn in plus fashion, I was excited to pair the blazer with the wide leg "Allie" pant (I mean, I had to get pants that have the same name as me. And no, they're not named after me but that doesn't mean I didn't pretend they aren't). The white was slightly different, but nothing that is really noticeable except for in certain lights. Otherwise it was perfect!
As for fit - for the blazer, I ordered my usual size and for the pants I sized up so that I wouldn't have that dreaded "White Pants, meet Allie's Cellulite: Let's show the world!" look that happens so often in light-color bottoms and also ordered them in Long so I could wear heels. I will probably have them taken in a little at the waist and at the hem because, although I like to think I am taller than I am (and I "stretched" myself for so many years as a model to say I was 5'9'' lol), I am not that tall - at all. At around 5'7'', the "long" length was great for heels, but left a little room to trip over the bottoms. And that's never cute.
I finished off this look with this beautiful collar necklace, also from Lane Bryant and this vintage hat that I've had for about a year after purchasing at a small shop in New Hope, PA last summer, but never worn. It totally reminds me of something my grandmother would have worn and I felt so festive.
So now I need to know - are you guys brave enough to rock a white pant AND a white jacket? I think the secret is to simply surrender and know you can't not stain it a little.
