Interlude

This is only going to be a one-picture kind of post. I know it's bit of a departure, but I just wanted to share this look with you guys because I'm really proud of it. I made this entire 2-piece set from scratch. Just me, my sewing machine and patterns I made by hand for the lining and the shell. It took me a little while and my seam-ripper saw a lot of action. But I did it.

It's not perfect - my skills as a seamstress aren't where I want them to be yet, which was honestly why I didn't take more photos tonight - but I still feel extremely proud. Because I remember not too long ago when I first sat down at my sewing machine and I actually cried in frustration. Multiple times. I mess up constantly, but I keep going.

I love the process of creating and I also love having the small clothing line I debuted last fall. In that process, I sketched and was hands on, but did not do the construction myself. Going forward, my work will probably land somewhere in the middle. I can't say for sure I want to be making every piece I do, but I can say I absolutely WILL KNOW how to do it and get to a point where I know I COULD do it all myself if I needed. I also can't say anything definitively about the future because I'm still figuring it out for myself. But I hear and appreciate your feedback, so it's always welcome.

For now, I'll be celebrating this little accomplishment and looking toward the future.

** Just fyi, as I go, these pieces will not be for sale unless otherwise stated. I am in the process of learning and am practicing on myself and my friends. At this point however, I won't release anything until I feel it's up to certain standards. **

Hope you're having a great week!
