As I move forward with my blog, you’ll learn something about me. I really, really love wearing horizontal stripes.
Not simply because people told me my whole life that I shouldn’t, but because I actually think they are pretty flattering on women with curves. Fashion rules have said forever that if you have big hips (which I clearly do), you should never even think to wear them. If you agree with that, well, to each her own, but I’m very sorry for you that you will miss out on enjoying a wonderful print.
Anyway, I wore this particular dress in 2010 to FFFWeek L.A. It ended up being in a few pictures and I haven’t really worn it since because it’s quite distinct and I didn’t want it to be overkill. But I’ve been looking for a way to wear it again with a different vibe and I think I found it.
Enter polka dots. Take it one step further and put stripes and polka dots together. And then you end up with the final product which, in theory, would be an assault on your eyes. But in practice, I’d say, is one of my favorite looks so far.

You are so gorgeous!
Awwwwww thank you for making me smile on long day! xo
You look fantastic! This outfit definitely stand out in a good way.
ah wonderful! i am terrified of stripes! and you got it from topshop? I thought their clothing was small! oh thank you you have made my day. And you are amazing in stripes.
You def shouldn't be! Try out different widths of stripes to see which looks best on you. I find they look better for me on the bottom than the top, and it's best on my body when fitted. TopShop stuff goes up to a 12, which is the size of this dress, but I ALWAYS try stuff on in straight size stores and play around with it because even when it looks like it won't fit, sometimes u get lucky and it does. I could never ever buy pants there or anything, but tops and dresses can be a different story :)
I adore horizontal stripes. one of my favorite skirts has horizontal stripes. and I never let that stop me. but i love the shade of blue in this outfit. I think you are brave to wear pokla dots and stripes, not letting fashion rules get in the way.
love

Yessss!!! I think pears and hippy (read: bottom heavy) babes should do that more often! I have no fashion sense, especially when it comes to the opposite sex, but anything that visually exemplifies the feminine form is fine by me!

Hi Allie, I have just shared a post about wearing stripes and I hope you don't mind that I added a picture of you from this gorjus post and a link to your blog. I think stripes are beautiful also, even if you have booty and boobs, in fact especially more so... I hope you get time pop over and see yourself featuring on my post... keep up the great work, you're gorjus!!!
