The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

I really wish I wasn't holding my blackberry, which I'm also in the process of dumping, on the pink carpet. Fail.

For the third year in a row, I attended the Victoria's Secret holiday fashion show. It's always a lot of fun to be on the pink carpet, but it's also incredibly stressful because it's the most chaotic, tightly-packed, cramped event.

When I started covering the event, I was just starting out in the world of entertainment news and I remember being overwhelmed while I was interviewing people with my blackberry for sound bytes. I was one of the last people in a really ridiculously long carpet and most of the celebrities weren't even interested in talking to me.

Working in this business, whether you like it or not, you're judged on your appearance and whether you look like you "belong" on the carpet. Don't get me wrong, lots of people show up in regular clothing. But there are a lot of really young, thin, fashionable New York women on that carpet and it's enough to make a girl feel a little ... insecure.

The people on the carpet may be glamorous, but let me tell you, the cramped, chaotic carpets themselves ARE NOT!

This is definitely something I am working to correct and perfect.  It's ridiculous to buy into it, but as my college mentor always said, you have to look the part before you can be the part. And let's face it, being the woman that I am and the size that I am, I already don't LOOK what people expect "the part" to be.

Enter my fashion. Truth be told, I don't have a lot of money right now in my life to buy lots of clothes. So I'm trying to get creative, but it's not always the easiest. I need to try harder and step up my game!

When you work these 13 hour days a few times a week, I am often tired and don't feel like dealing with heels and spanx and fancy clothes, but it's important to myself to FEEL my best. As my Irish dad loves to say, I don't give a fiddler's fart what other people think of me and my appearance. It's more important to me to FEEL like I put in the effort.

With "Project Runway" star Nick Verreos
That being said, I wore a beautiful jacket from Igigi tonight and styled my hair in a girly updo. I felt good about it and even got two compliments -- one from my fab fellow celebrity reporter Micah Jesse and another from the AMAZING Nick Verreos from "Project Runway."

I'll do another post when my videos go up, and I have some thoughts on Victoria's Secret and the image of women. So please stay tuned lovies!

For now, it's time for me to sleep in my favorite place on earth, my bed! Gnite beauties!
