Between the lines

It's been a while since I have worn stripes, but oh, how I've missed them.  I always love to wear them because it's really the ultimate proof that fashion rules are wrong and are mostly crap. Everyone thinks they know what is best for your body or how to dress your body, but in my opinion, if you feel that you want to wear something and you feel good in it, then you should rock it with pride.




These colors are a little more fall than the disgustingly brutal summer weather we've been having here in New York City, but again, I don't really care about those rules. Moreover, aside from it being so hot outside, one of the things I hate about summer is how freezing it can be INSIDE because of crazy air conditioning. So when I knew I was going somewhere where I would need a breathable fabric, but one that wouldn't leave me freezing, this was the perfect opportunity.

I can remember the day I bought this shirt from Max Studio about 6 years ago. I fell in love with the twisted detail on the neckline and it has remained one of my favorite, most versatile pieces in my closet. It's slightly sheer and very lightweight so it works all year round. It worked so well with this horizontal striped skirt from Forever 21 and I really liked the way it all came together.

Again, some might say that wearing large horizontal stripes across the biggest part of my body is a fashion no, but to me it's a big fat yes.
