Casual cool: A simple, easy daytime look

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but sometimes it's really hard for me to dress in more laid-back, casual clothes. That might sound crazy, but I often feel like if I'm not wearing a dress or skirt, I want to be in sweats, haha. One day I swear I am going to do a fashion post on rocking sexy sweats. Don't judge me.

Moving on -- I wanted to put together a look that was comfortable and casual, but also still felt like it could hold its own among the amazing fashionistas on parade at New York Fashion Week.

I really love this white TopShop blazer I bought about 2 years ago when exaggerated shoulders were first becoming popular. Again, I encourage my plus size readers to please dig around in certain straight size stores and try things on, and you might be surprised at what you find. Even if you can't find pants that fit you, dresses and tops can sometimes work and you can also get creative with layering options or wearing a dress as a shirt etc. By stepping out of your comfort zone (read: stores), you can have a few items other plus fashionista pals might not own. Because isn't the worst crisis when you and all of your friends are wearing the same outfit? And before I get hate mail, I mean SOMETIMES and for some items. Obviously I don't expect us all to wander around aimlessly in Bebe or Zara looking for a wardrobe that's never going to fit. It's about getting your basics from your fave stores and supplementing it by thinking outside of the box!

My pants, which are a staple of my wardrobe, are from Dorothy Perkins. The cami was $5 from H&M. But of course, it's this awesomely amazing leopard scarf from H&M that brings the whole thing together. I also added this clutch which I bought a few years ago from a Goodwill for $3.50. It's so glam and I'm obsessed with wearing clutches for daytime right now. You should try it too -- your shoulder will thank you.

Blazer: TopShop
Cami and scarf: H&M
Clutch: Thrifted
Pants: Dorothy Perkins
Sunglasses: Forever 21
Shoes (which, I know, I have to stop wearing so much): Jessica Simpson

Love the scarf and the bag together! Also, you totally should do a "sexy sweat pants" post. I think in many ways sweats can be cute!

New subscriber here! I found you through re-blogs on Tumblr. First things first...I love your style so much. Second, I agree with you. I am a skirts and dresses sort of girl and it does feel weird for me when I'm laid back and casual. I never call myself dressed up but many people do. It just feels comfortable when I get in my girl girl zone. I love that you wear heels with sweats. I'm guilty of that too.

Okay let me stop writing you a book and continue to browse your archives. Stay fab lady!
