Night fever

iPhone red eye correction: Never worth the trouble.

Last night my boyfriend and I went on a date and since he was away for a few days, I wanted to make sure I pulled out a fabulous dress and looked my best to welcome him home. I knew this dress, called the "sexy pencil dress" from ASOS was the perfect number.

We went out and had a great time, but I made the blogging mistake of snapping photos at night with my crappy iPhone. Lesson learned, they never come out light enough on their own without having to lighten or add a filter. And red eye correction is garbage. But at least you can see the look. And, it kind of adds to a cool dreamy vibe (Am I reaching? Maybe). In the words of Tim Gunn, I did my best to "make it work."

In the interest of full disclosure, here is one of the photos without any filters. BO-ring!

I paired this dress with my favorite Lela Rose pumps, which are actually black and blue but look more purple-y in these photos. They have a fabulous bow detail on the side that adds a nice girly touch. Business in the front, party on the side! Ha.

What's your go-to date-night outfit?

Shoes: Lela Rose for Payless
Belt & Headband: Charlotte Russe
Clutch: Aldo

may I ask a personal question? what size dress are you typically? I only ask because all of your dresses and outfits look AMAZING on you.. like they were tailored for your body, and so many times I see they come from the "straight size" lines at ASOS or other stores. I would love to know what size you are considered in the plus size world to know if I myself could pull off wearing some of the straight line dresses that have stretch in them! you look gorgeous 24/7.... and this dress fits you like a glove!

Of course!! I wear a size 16 dress, but a lot of times I will buy from straight size lines, especially ones labeled "bodycon" bc they stretch to fit. One of my biggest complaints about plus size lines can be that they don't have a great shape bc they believe we all want to be hiding. So esp if something is made with jersey, lycra or similar materials, it will fit!! I hope that helps!!
